 DOJ is well equipped to help obese patients achieve independence, medical stability and confidence so they can return to their communities. We have designed our bariatric accommodations to meet the special needs of overweight patients, with customized furniture and wheelchairs, walkers, electronic wide-width beds, transfer devices, shower chairs and commodes. Specially equipped ambulette transportation is also available for outside specialty care.
Registered dieticians oversee meal planning and special diets, while rehabilitation therapy practitioners provide individual instruction in using special equipment and support devices such as orthotics, prosthetics, customized braces and splints.
Bariataric accommodations are tastefully appointed and offer accessible bathrooms, garden patios and spacious lounges, all in a comfortable, home-like setting.
And for patients who need assistance in finding housing upon discharge, our social workers help them access  appropriate community services and assist in placement.
DOJ is one of the few health care facilities in the country that can accommodate bariatric patients who also need dialysis and ventilator-dependent respiratory care.
