DOJ’s rehabilitation resources are dedicated to bringing together the most skilled therapists along with state-of-the-art technology, all within a welcoming and comfortable setting. A full and experienced staff of physical, occupational and speech therapists serves our residents seven days a week. Our goal is always to enable residents to function independently and to make a safe return back to the community.
Short-term rehabilitation specialties include:
- Bariatrics. We’ve adapted our facility to accommodate the physical challenges faced by extremely obese patients. Our bariatric-ready facilities are equipped with extra wide doors to accommodate 33” wide wheelchairs and living quarters accommodate patients who weigh up to 800 lbs. Physical Therapy includes carefully monitored programs of exercise and diet to strengthen the body, improve confidence and provide the coping skills necessary for re-entering the community.
- Fractures, amputations and joint replacements. Recovering from these medical conditions can be difficult and painful, but our therapists are well trained in this kind of rehabilitation. Modern equipment such as the Biodex 500 and Cybex Cable Column efficiently work the muscles and joints to help speed recovery. Our rehabilitation team works closely with a board certified physiatrist while a certified orthotist and prosthetist (CPO) help patients make necessary adjustments, so they can quickly return back to the community.
Pain Management. DOJ offers individualized pain management services. State-of-the-art equipment such as the Dynatron 550 Plus, Intelect Legend Ultrasound and Interferential Therapy machines, coupled with manual therapy expertise and myofascial release techniques all help to minimize pain and manage discomfort. In addition, board certified physicians and consultant anesthesiologists are available help relieve patients of their pain.
- Stroke and other neurological conditions. All of our rehabilitation programs are patient-specific. Various therapeutic disciplines are integrated into a patient’s regimen in order to assure a speedy recovery. For stroke victims and those who suffer other neurological conditions, our physical therapists work on strengthening muscles and joints to regain ambulation,
occupational therapists improve cognition and help patients regain independence in activities of daily living, while a speech/language pathologist assesses and treats dysphasia and aphasia.
